	*Shipboard Approved Rack Curtains* All of our *navy rack curtains* are custom made to meet all US Navy MIL-SPEC requirements. We only make our curtains from NOMEX material using the highest sewing standards. We also make *custom rack curtains* and can add pockets, darkening layers, center and side Velcro closures, fan cutouts, and embroidery. 	*Why NOMEX Rack Curtains?* NOMEX is Fire Resistant!
	*Flame Retardant Rack Curtains* Fire retardant curtains may be constructed out of just about any material. That may sound strange but remember that fire retardant fabrics are simply any material coated with a chemical that is designed to limit a fires burn rate. Fire retardant chemicals are not popular for use as Rack Curtains as some of them make use of toxic chemicals. Fire retardant chemicals are commonly used to help reduce the chance of fire spreading. These fire-retardant chemicals may also wash out over time reducing the retardancy effectiveness. *Flame Resistant Rack Curtains* Flame resistant Rack Curtains are mandated to be from fabrics that are inherently resistant to catching on fire. This means the flame-resistant material naturally deters fire. Flame resistant fabrics like NOMEX, while they can catch fire if exposed directly to a flame, are not likely to catch fire just from being near the fire. Also, should a NOMEX rack curtain material catch fire, the fire will have a hard time staying lit. There is a big difference between Flame Retardant and Flame Resistant.		*NOMEX Rack Curtains* A flame resistant inherently nonflammable fabric has flame resistance built into their chemical structures. In comparison, flame retardant fabric materials are chemically treated to burn slowly and/or self-extinguish after being exposed to open flame. MIL Spec material not only sets standards for burn rate and flammability, they also set standards for dripping, off-gassing, fabric weight, and the specific type of fiber material to be used in production of rack curtain fabric. No sailor wants a rack curtain that burns slowly, drips hot chemicals or gives off dangerous smoke. NOMEX (a Dupont product) is the ONLY material that is flame resistant and can be fabricated in accordance with A-A-59473, MIL-C-24500 per MIL-STD-1623. In addition, all materials must be manufactured in the USA in accordance with the Berry Amendment. NOMEX IS THE ONLY MATERIAL ALLOWED FOR SHIPBOARD APPROVED RACK CURTAINS.
	*Navy Rack Curtains* All Navy, Coast Guard, and Submarine sailors know what rack curtains are but they may not know all of the benefits of these curtains. In general, rack curtains enclose the rack and provide some privacy to the sailor during rest/sleep time. Rack Curtains generally come in sets of two curtain panels that close in the center after the sailor has entered their rack space. The rack curtains open sideways by sliding on a slider track at the top of the curtain. This allows for easy access and exit from the rack. Aside from privacy, rack curtains also block out some light and provide a fire block in case of emergency. To accomplish this, *shipboard approved rack curtains* must be constructed with materials that meet specific MIL-SPEC requirements set by the Navy. According to specifications it is MANDATORY that the material be flame resistant and inherently non-flammable.		Navy Rack Curtains

Our rack curtains are offered in a standard 44 inch width with custom lengths from 18 inch high to 26 inch high. We offer our single thickness Standard Rack Curtains with custom options that include Center and Side Velcro closures, Fan Cutouts, third panels for end of rack, and custom colors. Navy rack curtains also come in our most popular Blackout Rack Curtains in the same custom sizes. These double layer light darkening curtains also offer the same custom options along with inside Storage Pockets while blocking out most all light.
